White Glazed Ridgeline Vase by Okada Masaru - "A breeze caresses the light snow-colored surface of the vase, embracing the supple flowers."

The appeal of the work

Curves reminiscent of the moon are gently engraved into the soft milky white glaze. The body is plump and the rim is gently folded in three to catch the wind. It is truly tranquil, yet the ridges trace the path of a breeze, imbuing the entire vessel with a subtle movement and inviting a sense of clarity into the space in which it is placed.

The author's perspective

Based on the philosophy of "Let the wind blow gently inside and outside the vessel," Masaru Okada entrusts the mountain breeze felt in Uji and Sumiyama to the curves of the ridges. The solid white glaze does not interfere with the color of the flowers, and the ridges gently guide the wind, uniting the flowers, vessel, and air.

Conclusion

White like light snow and ridges reminiscent of a streak of wind - the White Glazed Ridgeline Vase allows a branch to stand tall and bring a quiet breath to the space. As you insert seasonal flowers, please enjoy the shadows deepened by the white glaze and the story of the wind depicted by the ridgelines.
