Glazed Line Pattern Vase by Yotaro Takemura: The beauty of regularity and the vividness of the glaze
Takemura Yotaro's "Glazed Line Pattern Vase" is a beautiful piece that stands out with its rounded, stable shape and delicate, regular vertical patterns. This piece brings out the charm of pottery to the fullest, beautifully harmonizing the vividness of the colors with the stability of the shape. Even without flowers inside, it has enough presence to be called a masterpiece of contemporary pottery.
Rounded and stable shape
The "Glazed Line Pattern Vase" has a smooth, rounded shape, and its stability gives the entire piece a powerful impression. This vase displays outstanding skill in that it faithfully adheres to the basic form while also exhibiting a sense of delicate expression . The shape itself is beautiful even without flowers inside, and has a captivating quality that draws the viewer in.
The harmony of glaze and line patterns
The most distinctive features of this vase are the regularly-spaced vertical lines and the glaze spraying technique . The glaze is sprayed all over the vase, creating a beautiful texture and unique pattern on the surface. These glaze lines give the piece movement while also further enhancing the appeal of the ceramic material. The layers of glaze add depth and vibrancy to the vase, highlighting its strength.
Vivid colors and patterns
The distinctive colorful glaze is vividly expressed on this vase. The glaze, applied using the spraying technique, leaves a rough texture on the surface while simultaneously creating a color gradation. In particular, the vibrant hues such as coral red and cerulean blue harmonize with the roundness of the vase, making it a visually beautiful piece. The spraying technique brings the glaze pattern to life, creating a sense of three-dimensionality and depth.
The fusion of strength and delicacy created by line patterns
The glaze lines on this piece give rhythm to the entire pot, creating a sense of visual movement. The vertical lines, combined with the colors of the sprayed glaze, give the piece a dual appeal of strength and delicacy . The regularly applied glaze accentuates the lines, giving the entire piece a three-dimensional feel and presence. This demonstrates how the technique adds a modern approach to traditional pottery while maximizing the inherent appeal of pottery.
Yotaro Takemura and Dainichi Kiln: Harmony between nature and modernity
Yotaro Takemura's works at Dainichi Kiln shine with a unique style that blends tradition and modernity. He runs this small kiln with his father, Shigeo, and produces a succession of works using glazes made from a blend of plant ash and chemical compounds. His works actively incorporate the "fukikake" technique, in which glazes are sprayed onto the surface, as well as unique decorative techniques, bringing a new perspective to traditional crafts .
He makes his own tools to match the shape of the vessel and creates his works in a way that suits his own production style. This "Glazed Line Pattern Vase" is a masterpiece born from his unique sensibility and technique, and beautifully expresses the balance between his natural materials and modern technology.
A masterpiece that combines tradition and modernity
Takemura Yotaro's "Glazed Line Pattern Vase" is a work that embodies the fusion of traditional techniques and modern design.
