Introduction

The "Blue and White Porcelain Chamfered Crane Neck Vase" is a vase that perfectly harmonizes the clear color of the blue and white porcelain with the gracefully elongated crane neck shape. The "crane neck" refers to a long, slender neck, and this piece combines that beautiful form with the three-dimensional effect of the chamfering, adding a modern beauty to a traditional vase. The cool glaze of the blue and white porcelain and the simple, refined lines of the crane neck bring elegance and tranquility to any space.

The beauty and appeal of blue-and-white porcelain

Blue-and-white porcelain is a type of white porcelain that is characterized by its pale blue-white color due to the trace amounts of iron contained in the glaze. The transparent blue-white color has a refreshing feel reminiscent of a clear sky or a calm water surface, and its quiet elegance gives a sense of peace to the viewer. Blue-and-white porcelain works require a thick layer of glaze, making temperature control during firing extremely difficult and demanding advanced techniques, but Mr. Ikura has taken on this difficult challenge and produced works of stunning perfection.

Delicate design using chamfering techniques

Another major feature of this vase is the beautiful three-dimensional effect achieved through the beveling technique. Beveling is a technique in which the surface of a vessel is carved to create multiple faces, and Ikura-san's delicate carving technique enriches the expression of this piece. The elegant lines of the crane neck and the sharp shape of the beveling come together, allowing you to enjoy the different reflections of light and shadows depending on the viewing angle. In particular, when light hits it, the transparency of the glaze combines with the three-dimensionality of the beveling to create a beautiful scene that combines dignity and tranquility.

The elegance of the crane neck shape

As its name suggests, the "Blue and White Porcelain Chamfered Crane Neck Vase" features an elegant shape that is long and slender like the neck of a crane. This crane neck shape has long been considered a symbol of beauty and elegance in Japanese tea ceremony and flower arrangement. Ikura's vase is a modern interpretation of this traditional crane neck shape, and by adding sharp chamfered lines, it exudes a unique presence. These slender and delicate lines, combined with the refreshing feel of the blue and white porcelain, bring sophisticated beauty to any space.

Unique aesthetics and techniques

In the world of pale blue porcelain, he has produced many works that beautifully combine tradition and innovation. This "Palace Blue Porcelain Beveled Crane-Neck Vase" is another piece that fully demonstrates his outstanding technique and sharp aesthetic sense. The meticulous work of beveling the edges and the use of glazes that bring out the beautiful colors of pale blue porcelain to the fullest are his unique characteristics. This piece is also filled with respect for Kaiji Tsukamoto, and has the power to fill the entire space with refined beauty.
