Tenmoku-yu sake cup by Okada Masaru - "The pale pink moonlight softly lights up the black lapis lazuli that scoops up the starlight."

The view of the heavenly eye embracing stardust

When lit, the deep navy blue Tenmoku glaze shines with a faint silver-blue light, like a mirror reflecting the night sky. A thin, pale pink flame left by the reducing flame runs around the rim, adding a gentle warmth to the cup. The gray-blue blur that runs across the center of the body is a sliver of mist from a night cloud filtering through the moonlight. The unevenness of the outer surface is reminiscent of condensed starry mist, and even the feel it gives to your palm is part of the mysterious quality.

The author's perspective

Based on the idea of "capturing the landscape in the form of a vessel," Okada Masaru has captured the twinkling stars and moon halo in the middle of the night in Uji and Sumiyama in this small sake cup. Silver-blue stardust ... the clear starry sky in the winter sky. Pale pink fire ... the flames of the kiln and the moon halo at dawn. Gray-blue haze ... the night fog drifting around the foot of the mountain. Every time sake is poured, the stardust sways inside the cup, the haze flickers, and the moon halo glows faintly.

Conclusion

Take a sip and the aroma and flavor rising from the depths of darkness scatter across your tongue like starlight. The Tenmoku glaze sake cup is a small universe that adds the poetic atmosphere of the night sky to a quiet evening drink or a drinking party with guests. Please keep it by your side for a long time and enjoy the symphony of darkness and light that deepens the more you use it.
