We would like to introduce the "Blue and White Porcelain Mizunohana Tea Bowl" created by Kotaro Ikura, a ceramic artist active in Yagyu, Nara, the home of the master swordsman. This matcha bowl maintains the traditional dignity of tea ceremony pottery while shining with innovative design and craftsmanship. It is a special matcha bowl that combines Ikura's unique aesthetics and outstanding technique.

The elegance and transparency of blue-and-white porcelain

The greatest attraction of the "Blue and White Porcelain Mizunohana Tea Bowl" is the beauty of the translucent blue and white porcelain. The glaze, which has been mixed over a long period of time, is applied to the entire bowl, creating a translucent, delicate texture. The soft light blue color of the blue and white porcelain calms the viewer's mind, like the surface of a quietly spreading body of water, making the tea ceremony experience even more special.

Innovative design while preserving the dignity of tea pottery

This matcha bowl is characterized by its innovative design while firmly maintaining the dignity of traditional tea pottery. Kotaro Ikura has breathed new life into the shape of the tea bowl, showing new possibilities in the world of tea ceremony. This piece shows a free-thinking style that is not bound by the traditional concept of a matcha bowl, but what makes it outstanding is that it still maintains the formality and tranquility of the tea ceremony.

Delicate beauty of form and texture

The "Blue and White Porcelain Mizunohana Tea Bowl" is characterized by its delicate beauty, carefully carved out using a plane that is familiar to Ikura-sama's hands. When held in the hand, the smooth, flowing curves feel comfortable, and the elegant lines that spread throughout the entire bowl enhance its beauty. It is also extremely comfortable to use when actually making matcha, and you can enjoy the light feel that fits comfortably in the hand.

Design inspired by Mizunohana

As the title "Mizu no Hana" (Flowers of Water) suggests, this tea bowl was created with the image of flowers floating on the surface of the water. The transparency of the blue-and-white porcelain and the subtle color of the glaze seem to reproduce the beauty of flowing water and flowers reflected on the water's surface. The curves surrounding the tea bowl evoke the natural beauty of flowing water, giving it a tranquil and elegant impression.
