Okada Yu

He creates pottery with motifs of familiar scenery such as mountains, clouds, and plants that he sees every day in the coal mines of Uji, Kyoto. He has received awards such as the Grand Prize at the Kyoto Biennale of Art and Crafts, the Runner-up Prize at the Kobe Biennale Contemporary Ceramic Exhibition, and the Grand Prize and Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award at the Arita International Ceramic Exhibition. In 2022, he was appointed as a judge for the Japan Traditional Crafts Ceramics Division.
