"Miyagawa Kosai comes from a prestigious Kyoto-yaki family line, Makuzuyaki, whose history dates back to the Edo period. The founder of the Miyagawa family, Miyagawa Yuukan, began his pottery career in Kyoto from 1684 to 1687. Since then, the Miyagawa family has continuously developed the techniques of Kyoto-yaki."
