White Glazed Silver Brushed Vase by Masaru Okada - A single brush of silver carves a breeze onto the white porcelain that harbors the drops of the moon.

Overview of the Work

This is a neat and modern vase with two silver brush strokes on a soft white glaze. The slender neck rises from the soft milky white body, and the silver bands around the shoulders and rim give it a quiet glow. Even in the stoic silhouette with a restrained width, the flashes of the brush strokes draw in a breeze, adding a sense of dignified tension to the space in which it is placed.

Artist's thoughts

Okada Masaru's creative philosophy is to "capture the landscape in the form of a vessel." In this work, the image source was the full moon seen on a winter night in Sumiyama, Uji, and he expressed the white, quiet moonlight with white glaze and the cold air blowing around with silver brush strokes. The silver band represents the trajectory of the wind, and at the same time, it also plays a role like a "barrier" that connects the flower, the vessel, and the space.

Conclusion

This white-glazed, silver-brushed vase features a tranquil white glaze and silver-brushed patterns that resemble moonlight. When you put flowers in it, the silver light gently brings out the petals, and the pure white embraces the colors of the seasons. Please treasure this vase for many years to come, and enjoy the lingering feeling of a quiet moonlit night, and the changing scenery that appears along with the flowers.
