White Glazed Silver Brushed Flower Vase by Okada Masaru - A single brush stroke of silver carves a breeze onto the white porcelain that evokes the dew of the moon.

Overview of the work

This piece is a refined and modern vase with two silver brushstrokes running across the soft white glaze. The soft, milky white body is topped off by a slender, firm neck, and the silver bands around the shoulders and rim give it a quiet glow. Even within the stoic, restrained silhouette, the flashes of the brushstrokes invite a breeze, adding a sense of dignified tension to the space in which it is placed.

Artist's thoughts

Okada Masaru's creative philosophy is to "capture the landscape in the form of a vessel." For this piece, the image source was the full moon seen on a winter night in Sumiyama, Uji, and he expressed the quiet white moonlight with white glaze, while the cold air blowing around is expressed with silver brushstrokes. The silver band represents the trajectory of the wind, and at the same time, it also plays a role as a "barrier" that connects the flower, vessel, and space.

Conclusion

This white-glazed, silver-brushed vase features a tranquil white glaze and silver brushstrokes reminiscent of moonlight. When you place a flower inside, the silver light gently highlights the petals, and the pure white embraces the colors of the seasons. We hope you will treasure this vase for many years to come, savoring the lingering feeling of a quiet moonlit night and the changing scenery that is reflected alongside the flowers.
