The beauty of porcelain and kakewake techniques

The "Kagayaki Kakewake Flower Vase" is a work that beautifully combines the smooth, lustrous texture of kogayaki porcelain with the kakewake technique. Kogayaki porcelain is a white porcelain with a pale cream color reminiscent of ivory, and its warm hue gives this vase a unique depth. While the surface has a smooth texture, the changes in the glaze caused by the kakewake technique bring out different expressions depending on the angle from which it is viewed.

The beauty of movement and restraint through kakewake

"Kakewake" is a technique in which different glazes are applied to different parts of the vase. By making full use of this technique, Ikura creates subtle contrasts on the surface of the vase, creating a visually appealing piece that combines stillness and movement. The combination of the gentle tones of the porcelain and the striking colors of the kakewake creates a sense of energy hidden within the stillness. This well-balanced arrangement successfully achieves the coexistence of restrained beauty and bold design.

A fusion of elegant form and nature

The neat and precise construction, a common feature of Kotaro Ikura's work, is evident in this vase as well. The vase's form is simple, yet its vertical lines and rounded edges maintain an exquisite balance. Its orderly form not only gives it a sense of stability from any angle, but also maximizes the beauty of the flowers placed inside.

Softness and light expression of porcelain

The appeal of porcelain lies in its texture, which softly reflects light. This porcelain vase also shows subtle color changes depending on the amount of light, and its appearance changes depending on the time of day and lighting. When sunlight hits the porcelain surface, it shines gently, and in the shadows, its subdued color is even more striking. This harmony with the light is one of the joys of displaying this vase.

A fusion of functional beauty and artistry

The "Kagashiraji Kakebun Flower Vase" is a work of art that goes beyond its functionality as a simple flower vase. It is not only a tool for arranging flowers, but also has a presence that enriches the space by simply placing it there. All of Kotaro Ikura's works aim to combine functional beauty with artistry, and this vase is no exception. It is a piece that will make you appreciate its beauty and ease of use every time you use it in your daily life.

Harmony in nature

The quiet, subdued color of the porcelain and the boldness of the kakewake technique coexist in this vase, truly reflecting the harmony of nature. When flowers are placed inside, the vitality of the plant is further accentuated within the vessel, while the vessel itself serves to enhance the plant's beauty. This harmony with nature deepens the piece and enhances its appeal as a living art form in everyday life. The "Kakewake Vase by Ikura Kotaro" combines the soft texture of the porcelain with the kakewake technique to create a work of refined yet dynamic beauty. While simple, it possesses a diverse range of expressions that never tire of the viewer, and its presence is further enhanced when flowers are placed inside. This vase, a culmination of skill and aesthetic sense, is sure to be treasured for years to come as a work of art that enriches everyday life.
