Characteristics of Sake Cups

A guinomi is a sake cup that is deeper than a choko and has a slightly larger diameter. As its name suggests, it holds a volume that allows you to "gulp" the sake, so it is often used when enjoying sake casually at home. This lacquered guinomi also makes use of this characteristic, offering a moderate capacity and a comfortable drinking experience.

Lacquer painting techniques

Ceramic lacquer sake cups are applied with multiple coats of lacquer to achieve a unique luster and texture. The thickness of the coating and the drying method are carefully considered, and the vessel is polished and lacquered repeatedly to complete the work. The lacquer craftsman's brush strokes evenly coat the surface of the vessel, creating a beautiful finish.

The warmth of handmade craftsmanship

The warmth of the potter's hands and the gentle brushwork of the painter are infused into each and every sake cup. The warmth of handmade craftsmanship and precise technique combine to create a one-of-a-kind sake cup. The Tourushi Sake Cup is a masterpiece that combines tradition and innovation. Made using the extremely rare technique of applying lacquer to pottery, and completed through a delicate process by hand, this sake cup offers both casualness and a sense of luxury when enjoying sake.
