The Tradition and Beauty of Tamba Ware

"Tamba Water Pitcher by Tsuyoshi Shimizu" is a work that inherits the traditions of Tamba ware. Tamba ware is attractive for its simple and natural texture, and is highly valued as a tea ceremony utensil. This water pitcher by Tsuyoshi Shimizu brings out the characteristics of Tamba ware to the fullest, and the more it is used, the more its beauty and depth will increase.

Unique texture created by anagama firing

This pitcher was fired in a traditional anagama kiln. Anagama firing is a method of firing slowly over a long period of time, making the most of the power of nature. Shimizu Tsuyoshi uses this method to fire his pieces at high temperatures over a period of about two and a half days. This creates a beautiful natural glaze texture, giving the piece even more depth and appeal.

Grey Beauty

This Tamba water pitcher is characterized by its beautiful brown color. The gray color created by the firing process is natural yet deep, drawing the viewer in. Mr. Tsuyoshi Shimizu's skillful technique has resulted in a beautiful finish that allows you to feel the subtle changes in the color and texture of the earth.
