Introduction

Kotaro Ikura's "Blue and White Magnet Boat Ware" is a masterpiece that stands out for its unique shape along with the beauty of its blue and white porcelain. It features a stone-like texture and a graceful, flexible form like a boat. The tranquil beauty that permeates the entire piece gives viewers a deep sense of peace and comfort. This stone boat ware, which combines Kotaro Ikura's outstanding technique and sensibility, is a highly elegant piece that can be used in the tea ceremony or as interior decor.

The Tradition and Beauty of Blue and White Porcelain

Blue and white porcelain is made from porcelain clay made from white stone, and its history dates back to the Song Dynasty in China. It is characterized by a thick coat of glaze containing a small amount of iron, which develops a pale blue-white color during firing. The finished product has a transparent pale blue-green color that maintains an exquisite balance with the whiteness of the vessel, expressing a quiet and elegant color. The beauty of this blue and white porcelain has a clean and tranquil atmosphere, and is particularly highly valued in the world of pottery.

Beauty and Technology

This "Stone Boat Ware" is carefully coated with the thick glaze that is characteristic of pale blue porcelain, and the sharp angles of the boat shape accentuate its sophisticated, modern beauty. One of the challenges of pale blue porcelain is that the thick glaze applied makes it prone to cracking during firing, placing a strain on the vessel, but Ikura Kota has overcome this challenge and produced a magnificent piece. The transparent glaze of pale blue porcelain reflects beautiful light on the surface like a puddle, giving the impression of a natural landscape trapped within.

The charm of blue-and-white porcelain

Although blue-and-white porcelain is a type of white porcelain, it is characterized by its pale blue-white color, which is caused by trace amounts of iron contained in the glaze. This unique color is created by a beautiful balance between the transparency of the white porcelain and the blue-green color of the glaze. Kotaro Ikura's works combine this traditional technique with modern design, emanating a beauty that truly changes the atmosphere of the space. Ishibune ware combines the neat and tidy form with the delicate colors of blue-and-white porcelain to create a work of art.

Respect to Mr. Kaiji Tsukamoto

Kotaro Ikura has a deep respect for Kaiji Tsukamoto, a master of blue-and-white porcelain, and while influenced by him, he creates his own unique works. His works are filled with the beauty of Tsukamoto, who "changes the atmosphere of the place," and this "Blue-and-White Magnet Boat Ware" also has a quiet, powerful presence that never fails to attract viewers.

"Blue and white magnetic boat vessel by Kotaro Ikura" is a one-of-a-kind piece that combines the traditional beauty of blue and white porcelain with modern design. Thanks to Mr. Ikura's outstanding technique and sensibility, the transparent glaze of the blue and white porcelain and the sophisticated boat-shaped design are in perfect harmony, creating a special piece that quietly brightens up any space.
