Kotaro Ikura's "Blue and White Magnet Boat" is a masterpiece that stands out for its unique design along with the beauty of its blue and white porcelain. It features a stone-like texture and a graceful, flowing form reminiscent of a boat. The tranquil beauty that permeates the entire piece gives viewers a deep sense of peace and comfort. This stone boat, which combines Kotaro Ikura's outstanding technique and sensibility, is a piece of high quality that can be used in the tea ceremony or as an interior decoration.

The tradition and beauty of blue-and-white porcelain

Blue and white porcelain is made from porcelain clay made from white stone, and its history dates back to the Song Dynasty in China. It is characterized by a thick coat of glaze containing a small amount of iron, which develops a pale blue-white color during firing. The finished product has a transparent pale blue-green hue, which maintains an exquisite balance with the whiteness of the vessel, creating a quiet and elegant hue. The beauty of this blue and white porcelain, with its clean and tranquil atmosphere, is particularly highly valued in the world of pottery.

Beauty of Form and Technology

This "Stone Boat Ware" is carefully coated with the thick glaze that is characteristic of pale blue porcelain, and the sharply angled boat shape accentuates its sophisticated, modern beauty. One of the challenges of pale blue porcelain is that the thick glaze applied puts strain on the vessel, making it prone to cracking during firing, but Ikura Kota has overcome this challenge and produced a stunning piece. The transparent glaze of pale blue porcelain reflects beautiful light on the surface like a puddle, giving the impression of capturing a natural landscape.

The charm of blue-and-white porcelain

Although blue-and-white porcelain is a type of white porcelain, it is characterized by its pale blue-white color, which is achieved by the trace amounts of iron contained in the glaze. This unique color is created by the beautiful balance between the transparency of the white porcelain and the blue-green color of the glaze. Kotaro Ikura's works combine this traditional technique with modern design, emanating a beauty that truly changes the atmosphere of the space. Ishibune ware combines the neat and refined form with the delicate colors of blue-and-white porcelain to create a work of art.

Respect for Mr. Kaiji Tsukamoto

Kotaro Ikura has a deep respect for Kaiji Tsukamoto, a master of pale blue porcelain, and has been influenced by him while creating his own unique works. His works are imbued with the beauty of Tsukamoto, who claims to "change the atmosphere of the space," and this "Palace of Pale Blue Porcelain Boat Vessel" also has a quiet yet powerful presence that never fails to draw viewers in.

"Blue and White Magnet Boat Vessel by Kotaro Ikura" is a one-of-a-kind piece that combines the traditional beauty of blue and white porcelain with modern design. Thanks to Mr. Ikura's outstanding technique and sensibility, the translucent glaze of the blue and white porcelain and the sophisticated boat-shaped design are in perfect harmony, creating a special masterpiece that quietly brightens up any space.
