Black tea bowl by Nobuto Nakaoka - Jet black luster and natural scenery
The journey of ceramic artist Nobuto Nakaoka
With a passion for pottery in his heart, Nakaoka Nobuto began his journey as a potter by training in Tamba. After six years of training in Tamba, he devoted himself to glaze research at the Kyoto Municipal Industrial Research Institute in order to gain a deeper understanding of the mechanisms and potential of glazes. He then taught pottery overseas as a member of the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers, exploring new possibilities for pottery in a multicultural environment. Following these experiences, he went independent in 2006 at Kui, Sasayama City, and began creating works that pursue his own unique worldview.
Based on his belief that "I want to create beautiful, functional objects that value the beauty of form and color," Nakaoka is known as a master of glazes and works hard every day to create his pieces. His works exude a sense of strength within their delicacy, and the natural beauty created by the flow of the glaze captivates the viewer.
Black Drawer Tea Bowl - The Beauty of Jet Black
The Hikidashi Kuro tea bowl is characterized by its deep jet black color, achieved through a unique technique in which the bowl is removed from the kiln and rapidly cooled. This technique gives the surface a unique luster and depth, reflecting a magnificent landscape like the universe. Within the black, subtle color variations and kiln changes can be seen, revealing beautiful patterns that seem to have been created by nature. This is the result of Nobuhito Nakaoka's skilled techniques and deep understanding of glazes.
A form that combines solidity and lightness
This tea bowl has a solid cylindrical form, but when you actually hold it in your hand, it feels surprisingly light. Its shape, combined with its black color that brings out the green of the tea, makes it an ideal vessel for tea masters. The serenity of the black drawer and its hidden passion create an elegant atmosphere at the tea ceremony.
The beauty of the form conveys the warmth of the artist's hand
The graceful and soft shape is one of the charms of the Hikidashi Black Tea Bowl. The kiln-changed patterns that appear on the jet-black surface when it is pulled out of the kiln are so complex and beautiful that they are reminiscent of the surface of a planet. When you pick up the tea bowl, you can feel the warmth of the artist's hands, and you will be captivated by its quiet yet powerful beauty.
A dignified masterpiece that will add color to your tea ceremony time
The black drawer tea bowl makes your tea ceremony experience even more special. Its jet-black beauty and natural scenery bring a sophisticated atmosphere to your tea ceremony. Each time you use it, it brings new discoveries and joy, and will become an indispensable item for those who love the tea ceremony.
Lasting Value
Nobuhito Nakaoka's black tea bowl is a masterpiece that retains its beauty and value over time. The more you use it, the more its texture deepens, and your relationship with the bowl becomes more special. It is a valuable piece that can be used throughout your life and passed down to the next generation.
The thoughts of Nobuhito Nakaoka that are embedded in his work
Nakaoka's desire to "cherish the beauty of form and color, and create beautiful, functional objects" is strongly reflected in this black drawer tea bowl. Its jet-black beauty, natural scenery, and the beauty of its form that fits comfortably in the hand will enrich the soul of the user and provide a special moment. The black drawer tea bowl is a supreme masterpiece that brings together his passion and inquisitiveness for pottery, as well as his experience and techniques. Be sure to experience its charm and add a special touch to your daily tea ceremony.
